Our First-time Homebuyers Education and Counseling program is for eligible individuals who seek to purchase a home within the Borough of State College. There is a pre-determination of loan eligibility, assistance with credit issues or credit reports, budget counseling, and a homebuyer education class.
A person successful in this program may go on to become a homeowner in one of the first-time homebuyer programs in Centre County or independently. Often, Temporary Housing Foundation, a branch of Housing Transiitons, has a home available for purchase in the State College Borough. Housing Transitions also provides post-purchase counseling for up to five years. Eligible persons are those who earn between 60 and 80 of area median income (AMI). More information about eligibility can be found on the State College PA website or by contacting our first time homebuyers counselor:
