Our First-time Homebuyers Education and Counseling program is for eligible individuals who seek to purchase a home within the Borough of State College. There is a pre-determination of loan eligibility, assistance with credit issues or credit reports, budget counseling, and a homebuyer education class.
A person successful in this program may go on to become a homeowner in one of the first-time homebuyer programs in Centre County or independently. Often, The Home Foundation, a branch of Housing Transitions, has a home available for purchase in the State College Borough. The Home Foundation also provides post-purchase counseling for up to five years. Eligible persons are those who earn between 60 and 80 of area median income (AMI).
