Housing Transitions began offering a Rapid Rehousing Program in October 2017. It’s made possible by a grant from Housing and Urban Development (HUD) awarded to Centre County Government.
Please dial 2-1-1 if you are experiencing homelessness. All referrals for this program come through the coordinated entry system in Pennsylvania.
Individuals and families who are experiencing homelessness are eligible for consideration in the program. Homelessness, in this case, is defined as individuals and families living in a place not meant for human habitation (including the streets or in their car), emergency shelter, or in a hotel or motel paid for by a government or charitable organization. The goal of the project is to provide timely assistance to reduce the amount of time of homelessness. Clients secure their own lease. The program provides security deposit and first month’s rent, as well as a number of months of rental assistance.
